Enabling single-user mode

You can enable single-user mode for operations that require all computers but one to be out of Dentrix Enterprise.

Important: You can enable single-user mode on any computer only after all other users have logged out of Dentrix Enterprise on all computers. You cannot be logged in to Dentrix Enterprise on any other computer either.

Notes:

Viewing a list of users who are currently logged in to Dentrix Enterprise requires the "View Database Users" security right.

Enabling single-user mode requires the "Database Mode Setup" security right.

To enable singe-user mode

To view a list of users who are currently logged in to Dentrix Enterprise, in Office Manager, do the following:

On the Maintenance menu, click Database User List.

If applicable, do one of the following:

If the Password - View Database Users dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "View Database Users" task. Do one of the following:

If your user account has been granted the "View Database Users" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

If your user account has not been granted the "View Database Users" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can the list of current database users this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "View Database Users" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can the list of current database users this one time, do the following:

On the message, click Yes.

In the Password - View Database Users dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

The Current Database User List dialog box appears.

With only Office Manager open on this computer, and while logged in to the Central clinic, close all Dentrix Enterprise modules on all other computers. Then, in the Current Database User List dialog box, click Refresh to verify that you are the only logged-in user, and then click Close.

If you will be running any maintenance utilities or month-end processes, on the server, back up your Dentrix Enterprise database.

In Office Manager, on the Maintenance menu, point to Practice Setup > Database Mode Setup, and then click Enable Single User Mode.

Important: Once single-user mode has been enabled, only the user who enabled it can log in to Dentrix Enterprise.

Click Yes.
